books only lived in Iowa for two short years. Her family had wondering ways and her father helped to run a hotel for a spell when she was young. The hotel still stands and is set in the rolling hills of Northeast Iowa. Alyssa was very excited to visit and apart from dodging a loose dairy cow on the roadside the trip to Burr Oak a couple of years ago was quaint if not spectacular, certainly worth a brief detour if you happen to be in the area.
