Mildred Adams Fenton (1899-1995)

I loved rocks growing up. Something about the mystery of their origins and age. Walking beans as a child I would often be distracted by a treasure unearthed in the black dirt. Mother certainly grew frustrated at times when i would bring home discoveries with little plan for how to use of display them. A few years back we returned boxes and boxes of rocks to the wild when Mom moved from the house of my youth.

My love of rocks faded, but delighted to learn that one of the most famous rock hounds of all time was a woman from West Branch. Such a serious gaze on her. Quartz on the brain?
